The dramatic telling of the story of Jesus' resurrection begins with the lighting of the sacred fire at the entrance to the church, from which we light our tapers to enter the darkened building following in procession behind the Paschal Candle. We continue to sit in darkness, listening to the scriptures of salvation history, until we announce the resurrection. All the lights come on. The bells are rung. A member of our community will be baptized, and all of us sprinkled with the waters from a branch of cedar. We celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter with dramatic choral music, and conclude with the Resurrection Party.
Join us in the church before 7:30, find where you will sit, and then come out on the front steps as we begin with the fire.
