Holy Week and Easter at St. Anne's - We invite you to join us!

Enter into the last days of Jesus' life day by day, and reflect on why it matters. Jesus was killed. God raised him up. Each incident shows us how to be Christian today.

We tell this story through the worship services of Holy Week and Easter. Come and journey with us.

Palm Sunday: Procession of palms as Jesus is welcomed into Jerusalem. It was a welcome that came out of deep longing, but would turn to rejection. You will receive a blessed palm to keep as a reminder of this journey. Sunday, April 14, 10:30 a.m.

Sacred Music for Sacred Spaces:
St. Anne’s hosts the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir for two very special concerts that are well suited to Holy Week contemplation. Details and tickets on the TMC website. Wednesday, April 17, 7:30 p.m. & Friday, April 19, 7:30 p.m.

Maundy Thursday: Jesus' last supper with his friends, at which he called them to love each other and serve those in need - a final meal that became the Eucharist. You are welcome to participate in the symbolic washing of feet as a sign of servant leadership. Thursday, April 18, 7:30 p.m.

Good Friday: An extended dramatic reading of Jesus' arrest, imprisonment, trial, and death by crucifixion. A large wooden cross is brought by procession to the centre of the church. All are invited to a time of personal prayer before the cross. Friday, April 19, 10:30 a.m.

Holy Saturday: The Great Vigil of Easter begins with the ceremonial lighting of a fire on the church steps, symbolizing the return of the faithful from the darkness of grief to the light of the Risen Christ. The vigil includes readings by candlelight, and the joyful music of Resurrection. The Resurrection Party begins immediately following the conclusion of the service and all are invited to stay. Saturday, April 20, 7:30 p.m.
Easter Sunday: The disciples go to the tomb and find it has been opened. Initially, they cannot believe what has happened, but their experience of meeting Jesus alive has been carried through the centuries to us. We welcome the Risen Christ in a church filled with lilies and the music of celebration. Sunday, April 21, 10:30 a.m.

Our mission as St. Anne's is to be your sanctuary as you find your way through the story that created the church and tells us that God brings life to all of us.

It's easy to get to St. Anne's, and we are a safe, inclusive space for everyone.

We look forward to meeting you.
