Following  the shooting at the mosque in Quebec City, you may be wondering what we can do. How do we show our love and support?

This Friday, February 3, City Shul and St. Anne's will come together - Jews and Christians - in support of our neighbourhood mosque, the Islamic Information & Dawah Centre. We invite you to join us as neighbours and friends.

We are inspired by a group of young Muslims in Oslo. In February 2015, they formed a "ring of peace" around their local synagogue following anti-Semitic attacks in Denmark and France. They showed support for their Jewish neighbours in times of increasing tension.

This coming Friday, we plan to form our own "ring of peace" for the Dawah Centre - to be a calm presence of love, concern, and support in these times of fear and anxiety. We invite you to join us at 1168 Bloor Street West between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Please note: This is not a rally or a protest. This is a religious gathering to stand in hope and peace with friends. We intend to keep it small and nonpolitical. Please be prepared and dressed to be outside for an hour.

We invite you to make and bring signs, for example:

WE STAND WITH OUR MUSLIM NEIGHBOURS
WE ARE ONE COMMUNITY
PEACE UPON OUR MUSLIM NEIGHBOURS
JEWS AND CHRISTIANS UNITED WITH MUSLIMS
“DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM WITH YOU”— ISAIAH 41:10
STANDING UNITED:  “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF”
*Please - no political signs.

Any questions please do not contact the mosque; instead please contact us:
**Please let us know that you are coming. For safety reasons, and because of the narrowness of the sidewalk in front of the mosque, we need numbers in advance.

RSVP by Thursday evening.
