What can we do to express our love and support following the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh? Come and stand with us as we form a Ring of Peace.

Less than two years ago, St. Anne's and City Shul came together to form a Ring of Peace at the Islamic Information and Dawah Centre following the shooting in a mosque in Quebec City. Earlier examples in Europe inspired us and the wider community joined us. St. Anne's and the Islamic Information & Dawah Centre, joined by the United Church of Canada, Toronto Conference, now ask you to join us to support our friends at City Shul.

Our Ring of Peace will be a protective embrace as the people of City Shul enter their sanctuary for shabbat, especially for this Solidarity Shabbat being observed in synagogues worldwide.

We invite you - fellow Christians and Muslims, people of all faiths, and all people of compassion - to stand with us in friendship. Be neighbours with us.
We will line both side of Bloor Street from Madison Avenue to Huron Street to protect the entrance to the Bloor Street United house of worship which is home to City Shul - 300 Bloor Street West.

Please bring signs, especially handmade signs that express your support. Please note: This is not a rally or protest. No political signs. This is a religious gathering to stand in hope and peace with friends. The Ring of Peace includes 5 minutes of standing in silent prayer coinciding with prayer inside the synagogue.

*Please note that the Ring of Peace will conclude at 10:30. All are asked to depart at this time. The Solidarity Shabbat is for the members of City Shul - please do not enter the house of worship following the Ring of Peace.

Note that our Ring of Peace will have protection provided by the Toronto Police Service. Media and journalists will be present. Please be dressed to stand in outdoor weather for an hour.
