TOP 1O Hymns! Learn about Music & Sing our Favourites - Thursday, March 3, 7:00 p.m.

posted 10 Feb 2016, 10:38 by Gary van der Meer   [ updated 7 Mar 2016, 11:43 ]

We have been asking people to submit their favourite hymns. What is our common voice? Will our singing be more robust for our collective favourites? It's also good to know that other people love a hymn that you don't like. It reminds us that as a community, we honour and give space for each other's preferences. We wait on each other. Each person is valued, and we really can sing that song that other people love. It's about community.

Here are our Top Ten so far, based on the submissions we have received so far (with the number in brackets from our hymn book, Common Praise):
  1. Guide me, O, Thou Great Jehovah (565)
  2. Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound (352)
  3. Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God (458)
  4. The Lord's My Shepherd - Psalm 23 (519)
  5. I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say, "Come unto me and Rest" (508)
  6. Immortal, Invisible God, Only Wise (393)
  7. How Great thou Art (423)
  8. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus (374)
  9. Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee (435)
  10. And He will raise you up on Eagle's Wings (531)
Join us to learn about music and its significance in Christian worship. We will sing through our favourites, backed up by the St. Anne's Choir!

You can still influence our TOP 10 by submitting your choices. Use the attached form, or send us a note with your choices.

*Note that we will also sing our TOP 10 (one each week) during the Sunday worship service - beginning Easter Sunday. Please join us.

This event will take place in the Music Room, lower level of St. Anne's Church, 270 Gladstone Avenue.

Thursday, March 3, 7:00 p.m.
