Pride & Remembrance Run - Saturday, June 24, 10:00 a.m.

posted 5 Jun 2013, 05:01 by Gary van der Meer   [ updated 2 Jun 2017, 12:55 ]

Run or Walk with us! Our St. Anne’s participation in Pride events is a natural extension our parish discernment that St. Anne's welcomes all people, and we support LGBTQ relationships. We practice Equal Marriage at St. Anne's.

Run 5K or walk 3K. Join our team by registering at www.priderun.org. Look under team listings for our team "Proud Anglicans".  There is a discount if you register as part of a team rather than as an independent runner. Proud Anglicans includes members of other Anglican congregations that support same gender relationships. It's good to know them and to support each other.

The run begins at 10:00 a.m. and the walk immediately follows. The route begins at the intersection of Church & Wellesley Streets and circles Queen's Park, returning to Church & Wellesley for the finish line and refreshments.

PRIZES: Yes, there are prizes for the fastest runners in the race. But we also have our own Proud Anglicans prizes: The two fastest Proud Anglicans buy frappuccinos for all the other Proud Anglicans participants! You get to win, and you get to be humble...

We are pleased to support the beneficiaries identified for this year's run:

  • Fife House Transitional Housing Program (supportive housing for people living with HIV)
  • Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity Gay-Straight Alliance Forums across Ontario: The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity works in schools and youth communities to stop bullying and discrimination by holding forums, workshops, training and providing ongoing support. This organization aspires to support and transform Canadian and indigenous communities from coast to coast to coast in a shared vision of a discrimination-free gender and sexually diverse world.
  • Casey House – Rebuilding Lives Day Health and Wellness Program: Casey House is a specialty hospital that provides compassionate health care to those living with medically complex experiences of HIV/AIDS. In an effort to improve patient services Casey House is building a new health care facility and introducing a Day Health and Wellness Program
  • Pride and Remembrance Foundation: The Pride and Remembrance Foundation is the charitable foundation responsible for the distribution of funds raised by the annual Pride and Remembrance Run. The Foundation’s mandate is to provide financial support to registered charities that benefit the LGBT community. The Foundation accepts applications for financial assistance from registered charities throughout the year.
