SPECIAL VESTRY MOTION - SUNDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2020

Vestry Motion:

We, the vestry of St. Anne’s Anglican Church in the Diocese of Toronto, grant approval for the corporation of St. Anne’s to submit a formal application to the City of Toronto for severance of the parish hall land from the combined church and parish hall property.

Why are we doing this?

Submitting a formal severance application will trigger various City departments (Heritage Preservation Services, Transportation, Parking, etc.) to launch formal assessments and submit reports that outline any limitations that might be encountered when undertaking a redevelopment project of the parish hall. In addition, the severance process also provides an opportunity for the community to provide feedback and state any concerns/impacts that a severance might have on the surrounding neighbourhood.

Voting on the motion is simply an approval to proceed with the formal severance application. This motion is NOT an approval for the sale of the parish hall and associated land, nor is it an approval of a specific development project. It is estimated that the severance application process will take two years to complete. During this time, the corporation will engage the parish in a discernment process to explore a range of possible redevelopment options that would meet the long-term financial needs of the parish. Once these options have been finalized, a second special vestry will take place to vote on the approval of a development option and (if required) the sale of the parish hall and associated land.
